Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions families ask most. Still unsure? Our guides go into more detail.

Do centres pay to be listed or to rank higher?

No. Listings are compiled from public records, and centres cannot pay to appear or to rank higher. We are not paid commissions for referrals.

What is the difference between JKM and KKM/MOH licensing?

They are two separate regulatory tracks. JKM (the Department of Social Welfare) licenses residential care centres — "Pusat Jagaan" — under the Care Centre Act 1993. KKM/MOH (the Ministry of Health) licenses clinical nursing homes with registered nurses and medical facilities under the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998. Most centres are JKM-registered; only a small number hold the stricter MOH licence.

What do "Licensed" and "Unverified" mean on a listing?

"Licensed" means the centre appeared on the JKM registry with a currently-valid licence at our last update. "Unverified" means the licence had lapsed at our last update, or the location comes from an operator’s own website and does not (yet) appear on the JKM registry. Unverified is not an allegation of wrongdoing — it simply means we could not confirm a current JKM licence, so you should verify it yourself.

What is AGECOPE?

AGECOPE is the Association for Residential Aged Care Operators of Malaysia, a voluntary industry body. We flag centres whose operators are AGECOPE members. Membership is a positive signal but is separate from, and not a substitute for, JKM or MOH licensing.

How current is the information?

Our listings are a periodic snapshot compiled from the public JKM registry and operators’ websites, and can lag behind the live registry. Always treat it as a starting point and confirm details directly with the centre before relying on them.

How do I choose the right centre for my relative?

Start with the level of care needed, confirm licensing, shortlist by location and budget, and always visit in person. Our guides walk through each step — see How to Choose a Nursing Home and our 20 Questions to Ask on a Visit.

I operate a care centre. How do I get listed or corrected?

Listings are compiled from public records, so your centre may already appear. If any detail is wrong, or you would like to claim your listing, please contact us and we will review it.

Are you affiliated with any of the centres listed?

No. We are an independent directory. A listing is not an endorsement, and we are not affiliated with any listed operator.
