Looking for care for a parent or relative is stressful, and often urgent. This is a calm starting point — take it one step at a time, and use the resources below as you go.

Where to begin

  1. Be clear on the care needed. Assisted living, nursing care, or dementia care? Ask the doctor or hospital discharge planner to note it down.
  2. Set a rough budget. Use the cost estimator to get a ballpark before you visit.
  3. Shortlist by location. Being close makes regular visits easier — search the directory by state and town.
  4. Check licensing. Look for the Licensed badge, and verify directly with the centre and JKM.
  5. Visit in person. Always. Take our list of questions.

Considering in-home care instead?

A residential centre isn’t always the right fit — some families prefer a caregiver who comes to the home. Our sister directory, CaregiverMalaysia, lists independent, ID-checked caregivers you can search by location, rate and availability.

A note for families abroad

Many families living overseas — including Singaporeans placing a parent in Johor — use this directory to search from afar. If you can’t visit yourself, ask a trusted relative or friend to tour on your behalf using the same checklist, and always confirm licensing before committing.
